Massage Career Can End With Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

How to avoid Carpal Tunnel Syndrome as a massage therapist.

I made a video on how I maintain my wrists as a Professional Licensed Massage Therapist. An exercise hack, if you will, to help other therapists extend their careers.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome has shortened the careers of many practitioners of this modality. Massage is very hard on the the body of the practitioner and body maintenance is needed to endure a long fulfilling occupation if desired.

Because of compression of the wrists, pain develops and it is only a matter of time before the massage therapist looks for other employment to avoid years of ensuing pain.

So how might someone avoid carpal tunnel syndrome with this practice?

The two main things I do are:

  • Plantar flexion of wrist and hand
  • Kettlebell twists with arm hanging

If you’re interested in why my hands and fingers do well after hours of massage each day, watch the video above.
